About the event

School Social Work is a specialized area of practice within the social work profession. This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the critical role that School Social Workers play in supporting student success. School Social Workers are master's-prepared, licensed mental health professionals who address students’ social, emotional, and academic needs through specialized interventions, mental health services, and crisis support. Participants will explore the unique expertise school social workers bring to schools, including their ability to bridge the gap between home, school, and community while advocating for equity and social justice. The session will also discuss the challenges faced by students and families, strategies for overcoming barriers to success, and the importance of community collaboration. Additionally, attendees will learn about Delaware’s only 501(c)(3) professional school social worker organization and its efforts to advance the profession and promote positive outcomes for students statewide.
